Timothy Oulton

English Reclaimed Timber

Genuine English Reclaimed Timber - or GERT as it's affectionately known - is reclaimed from old houses, distilleries, and barns, the wood is over 100 years old.

The process is an arduous one, beginning at the demolition site where the wood is collected and transported to our workshop. It's then graded, sorted, and de-nailed. Each nail can only be removed by hand, in order to preserve as much as possible the natural patina that the timber has developed over time. To get enough usable wood for a table, up to 600 nails must be removed by hand.

The Story of Timothy Oulton

The story of Timothy Oulton started back in 1976 with an antiques shop owned by Tim's father. Tim later used his skills and passion for British heritage to deliver the extraordinary.

Handcrafted with only the best traditional techniques and fabrications, each Timothy Oulton piece is inspired by the past, but reconceived from a modern perspective, producing uniquely authentic collections which push the boundaries of furniture design.
