Congratulations! How does it feel to have your home featured in our brochure?

We were absolutely delighted to hear that our home would be featured in this Spring Brochure. We love Barker & Stonehouse; we love our home, so to have the two come together…. well, that is just wonderful!

Tell us about yourself – who lives in your home?

We are Sean and Meg. Our daughters are Ava and Alanna, and our family is completed by our very energetic Jack Russell Terrier, Keziah.

Tell us a bit about your home – how long have you lived there and what have you done to it since you moved in?

When we found our home in September 2020, we were instantly drawn to its village location and beautiful views. The countryside setting was just what we were looking for and we had the added bonus of being close to the town of Harrogate with all its wonderful amenities. When we bought our home, we knew that we would develop it in the future. After living in it for a year we set about extending the kitchen to include a utility/boot room and create better flow between the kitchen, dining space and family room. The space gets so much gorgeous sunlight now with the incorporation of a large sky light and situating the French doors and windows to the south facing part of our home.

How does your winning room make you feel when you get home?

The open plan space far exceeds what we had hoped for when we started out on our extension journey. It is open and inviting and it has become the centre of our home. We wanted this space to look beautiful yet still be practical for our young family.

The central feature of this room is our Barker and Stonehouse Salisbury table, visible from the front door and hallway as well as the side door. We enjoy being hospitable and entertaining, so we love that the dining space is the first thing people see when they come into our home. We spend so much time around this table as a family; starting the day here with breakfast and ending it with dinner and stories of what the day brought each of us. It is amazing how a space, a table, brings such a sense of togetherness and wellbeing.

What is your favourite Barker and Stonehouse purchase?

We adore our Salisbury dining table but for Alanna it would be her solid Scandinavian Oak Martello bed and bedside table. We wanted a bedroom set that would last her through the years and stand the test of toddlerhood. This beautiful bed is certainly doing just that.

How would you describe your interior style in three words?

Country living, modern farmhouse, and rustic.

Are there any other pieces on your wish list?

The answer to this one is easy; Always! We are waiting on the imminent delivery of our Verberie Reclaimed Wood desk and filing cabinet to complete our home office revamp. We have continued our modern farmhouse feel in this room with the addition of panelling and warm green tones. The Verberie range suits our interior style well and we cannot wait to see the room finished.
