The festive season is upon us and this year, we’re making up for lost time.

Whether you’re hosting extended family or spending the season with your closest friends, join us in celebrating all that makes gathering with our loved ones so great.

From the festive feast that brings everyone together around the table, to the decades-old traditions that you get excited about year after year, Christmas has always been special – but we have a feeling that this one is going be even more magical.

In preparation for the big day, we had a good old natter with some of the designers and influencers we’ve loved working with over the past year, to find out how they’ll be spending Christmas.

Perhaps you’ll take some inspiration from their plans or simply enjoy hearing a how others spend their day – either way, you’re cordially invited to our festive gathering with friends…

Dreaming of a white Christmas – and a Drew Pritchard sofa!

We were delighted to launch an exclusive range of upholstery designed by antiques expert and dealer, Drew Pritchard earlier this year, and even hosted two events with the man of the moment at our Teesside Park and Guildford stores.

The impressive collection of sofas, chairs and footstools brings together decorative elements from a range of historic periods, from English Regency to the 19th century, and even the 1960s.

So, will the Salvage Hunters star spend his Christmas cosying up on one of his snuggle chairs? Let’s find out…

What will Christmas look like for you and your family this year?

This year will be a small affair, close friends and family and very quiet at home.

How would you describe your festive style?

Traditional with all the bells and whistles; big Christmas tree, lots of candles and lots of decorations, crackers, hats and jokes; the full works.

Christmas tree: real or fake?

Always a real one but I do have a £5 petrol station tree which I had for my first Christmas at the cottage. I bring it out every year but it’s getting tattier and tattier

How do you handle the influx of extra guests? Will you all fit around the table?

Yes, but my cottage is very small, some people say cosy, so we just have to fit in as many as possible.

What will you be serving this Christmas?

A very traditional Christmas dinner and I do all the cooking myself; we start with salmon blinis in the morning with champagne and orange juice, traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings late afternoon and then cheese and biscuits, brandy, wines and chocolate until we can't eat any more.

Sprouts: love or hate?

Detest sprouts – little green vermin!

What is your Christmas tipple?

I would like a large bottle of twice distilled Scotch whisky with a touch of water.

What’s on your Christmas list this year?

I am very difficult to buy for; what I really appreciate is people making me different types of food like biscuits, cakes or sloe gins and pickles.

Do you have any fun/unusual Christmas traditions?

Pre-pandemic each Christmas we would wear all of the clothes that we had been given by our relatives to the pub at lunchtime.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without…

My son.

Favourite Christmas movie?

It’s a Wonderful Life.

What have been your highlights this year?

Finishing the restoration of the showroom, launching our new lighting range and working with Barker and Stonehouse on our range of upholstered furniture.

Any resolutions/goals for 2022?

I don't make resolution as I always break them, but I should do more exercise and carry on learning to cook authentic Indian cuisine.
