It was just over a week ago when a little boy was brought to our attention. His name is Finley, he’s only 4 years old. Little Finley goes to school with some of the children and grandchildren of our Head Office team in the North East.

Finley has been in and out of hospital since 2013, following a number of seizures. He’s been to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle before then being transferred Great Ormond Street Hospital in London where doctors finally gave him the diagnosis of a Hypothalamic Harmatoma; an extremely rare brain tumour.

Finley’s results have been shared with leading experts across the UK and America. He has already tried three of the recommended drugs available to him but the only surgery available that will help him lead a much more normal life is Laser Ablation – a procedure that can only be performed in America.

It extremely costly but life changing which is why we, at Barker and Stonehouse, would like help raise as much money as we can to get this brave little boy to the USA.

Our American-themed charity fundraiser commences on the 2nd June and will continue for three weeks in our Head Office – all monies raised will go to this very worthy cause.

From American cake and cookie sales and raffle drawers through to office decorating, do-nut decorating and fancy dress competitions, you can keep up-to-date with all of our weekly fundraising activities on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Here’s a taster of our first successful cookie and cake sale:
