Here at Barker and Stonehouse our team are experts in sofas – but they’re certainly no couch potatoes!

For Sports Relief, more than 60 Teesside Park store staff took part in a 70 mile dash for cash, in celebration our 70th anniversary, raising over £1,800 for the charity.

Store and head office staff raced around the car park on bike, foot and roller-skates, passing the baton to warehouse staff who lapped carrying heavy furniture.

We also hosted the Great Barker and Stonehouse Bake Off, with staff bringing in cakes and sweet treats to be judged and raffled off to hungry participants of the relay challenge.

Steve Baxter, Teesside Park store manager, said: “We decided to run a mile for each year that Barker and Stonehouse has been in business, while at the same time raising money for a really worthwhile cause.

“Everyone involved had a great time and really got on board. I’d like to thank everyone who took part in the events and who generously supported us with their donations.”

Of all of the money raised by the public through Sport Relief, 50% is used to make a difference in the UK and 50% goes towards transforming lives across the world’s poorest communities.
