Soft Loft is the name of the new bedroom collection from Barker & Stonehouse and it’s right up our street! The San Quentin Langley dresser and Kern nightstand are hand-crafted from beautiful reclaimed pine, lightly sanded for a natural rustic finish, and finished with cast metal hardware. As they are handmade, every piece is unique. And this rustic furniture is as practical as it is stylish. With 2 shelves and a drawer, the Kern nightstand offers plenty of bedside storage space. Meanwhile the Langley dresser features 6 good sized drawers and would work just as well as a standalone piece or as part of the full furniture collection.

Our tip: to keep the look “soft”, offset your rustic furniture with natural or pastel coloured linens and rose-hued copper lighting. The Barker & Stonehouse ball copper pendant light (below left) and lounge pendant in copper (right) work perfectly in this loft setting.

If only our bedroom was as spacious as this! We just love those copper pendant lights, which offset the exposed brickwork in this space beautifully.

Finally, we had to mention the Barker & Stonehouse Jorge workbench desk. It’s actually part of a separate Barker & Stonehouse range called “Social Fuel” but, like the pieces we picked out above, the Jorge workbench desk is also crafted from reclaimed pine and features smart industrial metal detailing. The design strongly evokes a vintage workbench, complete with a “vice” on the left hand side and a faint Swedish newspaper stain inside the drawers. The addition of spacious drawers has transformed this into a stylish and practical desk for your home office or study. Our tip: team the Jorge workbench desk with the Teo office chair, also from Barker & Stonehouse.

If you like the idea of a workbench desk but are looking for an original, vintage piece then you might prefer this fantastic workbench conversion we discovered recently in Type.

If you enjoyed this feature, you might also be interested in other items from Barker & Stonehouse that we’ve written about recently, including the Wright desk and Bleecker stool. And take a look at our Bedroom and Office + Study sections for further inspiration.
