How to Get the Look: What the Butler Saw

Each season we introduce an exciting new collection of trends to inspire your interior.

As spring arrives, this season is all about getting creative and giving your home some much needed TLC. With a new palette and fabulous new furniture arrivals, we can’t wait for you to feel inspired by our latest looks.

Our first trend is modern vintage with a luxurious twist; say hello to What the Butler Saw.

Big bold and utterly luxurious, this iconic look blends classic art-deco themes with fresh contemporary tones. Warming hues of dusty rose are underpinned by rich walnut and offset by angular shapes and cool mirrored exteriors. Here, eclectic meets elegant with stunning results.

Discover what the butler saw and find out how to get the look.

Vintage Style

What the Butler Saw is a homage to the style of the 1930's and the art deco movement. Think the glittering glamour of the Great Gatsby and old school Hollywood but with a modern edge. By re-imagining signature art deco style, What the Butler Saw brings 30’s glamour to 2018.

To get this look in your own home, turn to the past for furniture inspiration. Retro curves and angled legs are a signature look of this era and still look great today.

The Drupe sideboard features a carved geometric pattern front and is finished with brass handles and feet for a unique edge.

Plush Pink Velvet

Last year’s love of velvet is set to continue throughout 2018. While deep greens and blues have dominated our homes recently, this year we’re putting a fresh new take on this plush fabric in one of our favourite shades of the season – pink. Think dusky pink and soft rose for a mellow yet eye-catching look which perfectly complements the art deco influences of this trend.

Make a statement in your living room with a pink velvet sofa. The Amabile sofa combines plush rose velvet with graceful curves and a buttoned back for an effortlessly refined vibe.

Metallics & Mirrors

Nothing says art deco elegance like a little shimmer and sparkle. Art deco homes were often full of decadent style with high-shine luxurious finishes and sleek surfaces. Wood was often highly polished and finished with metallic touches such as gold legs and brass handles.

To add a feel of retro glamour to your home, looks for statement metallic furniture pieces. Our collection of Queens side tables will add wow-factor to any space, whether you group them in the centre of a room, nestle one in a forgotten corner or use them as bedside tables.

Mirrored surfaces are also a great way to add a little shine, and will increase the sense of light and space in a room. The Dulce mirrored sideboard features an antique mirrored front that will make a small room appear larger.

Gatsby-Inspired Glamour

Last but not least, accessories are the perfect way to relive the spirit of the ritz at the height of its decadent glittering glory. From vintage-inspired gold mirrors and floor lamps to sparkling sequined cushions, those extra special accents will really bring the look to life.

For a fabulous finishing touch, be inspired by the decade of cocktail parties with our Lux gold drinks tray, perfect for displaying antique bottles, shakers and glasses.
