Your House guest blogger Sophie Bush of mywarehousehome.com reviews the new Timothy Oulton collections, just launched in selected Barker and Stonehouse stores.

This month sees the launch of four new collections from Timothy Oulton – Jet, Adventurer, Coastal Drift and Age of Elegance. The collections will be on display in all nine Barker & Stonehouse stores across the UK, as well as appearing online soon. We took a look at the new display in the flagship Barker & Stonehouse Battersea store and have picked out a few of our favourite items.

We love the extensive use of metal throughout the Jet and Adventurer collections; collections inspired respectively by British gentlemen hero Sir Donald Campbell and the literary character Biggles. The Airfoil desk from the Jet collection has the appearance of a section of wing, and will make a sleek style statement in any study or office. Inspired by military aircraft and of course by Campbell’s legendary Bluebird car, interlocking aluminium panels have been given a distressed “Spitfire” finish through a signature process which takes place in five stages. The pieces are then secured with rivets, completing the characterful aircraft-inspired look.

For a slightly softer take on industrial chic, the Coastal Drift collection combines beach wood with brushed aluminium. The Castaway range is particularly unusual, with alternating wood and aluminium slats individually nailed by hand to create a striking striped effect. The large and robust Boston dining table, with rustic weathered oak frame and smooth Aero metal tabletop, will be a talking point in itself at dinner parties.

Supple, distressed leather is another key feature in the new Timothy Oulton collections. In the Adventurer collection, the Charlie dining chair is wrapped entirely in leather and features a woven leather detail on the base of the seat. The Professor chair also has a wonderfully rugged look, achieved through the use of two faced sheepskin and inspired by weather-beaten World War II flying jackets.

Meanwhile, the Age of Elegance collection features a beautiful range of sofas in a new “scuffed linen” finish, achieved from twice washed and treated hemp. The fabric has a lovely natural look and a luxuriously soft texture, making these sofas the perfect place to unwind after a long day.

The four new collections from Timothy Oulton are at once nostalgic and modern, with vintage-inspired designs given robust, contemporary finishes.  The use of the finest materials, traditional techniques and quality craftsmanship mean every piece is a statement piece. But don’t just take my word for it, why not journey down to your nearest Barker and Stonehouse store to explore the collection for yourself!
