Homeowners with grand designs but limited budgets are invited to take advantage of free one-to-one sessions with award-winning local architects at Barker and Stonehouse stores on Saturday. (June 22)
The furniture retailer is supporting RIBA’s annual Love Architecture Festival by hosting free ‘Tea with an Architect’ sessions at its stores in Middlesbrough, Darlington, Newcastle and Gateshead.
The 30 minute one-to-one consultations will give customers the opportunity to bring in their ideas, designs and questions to renowned architects from companies including DKS Architects, responsible for the refurbishment of the Acklam Park Club and award-winning architects firm MawsonKerr.
Will Mawson and Dan Kerr were responsible for the Stewart Park Visitors Centre and the iconic 4000sqm Teesside University Darlington Campus building.
MawsonKerr Co-founder Dan Kerr, said: “It’s the chance to have a free consultation with an experienced architect, an opportunity that most people wouldn’t normally get.
“Between us we’ve got more than 15 years’ experience and we’ve worked on everything from multi-million pound projects to small residential properties, so we’re happy to answer questions and provide advice on any query no matter how big or small.
“Both myself and Will live and work locally so it’s a chance to promote architecture in the local community during Architecture Week.”
Barker and Stonehouse managing director, James Barker, said: “Barker and Stonehouse has always promoted great furniture design and there’s a strong link between this and good architectural design.
“A well-designed building will create space that’s not only highly functional but which acts as the perfect foil for good-looking, well-crafted furniture.
“That’s why we’re hosting these sessions, they provide a cost-free and informal way for customers and the public to find out how an architect can help get the most out of their living space.
“Most people have never worked with an architect so they’re likely to be pleasantly surprised at the great design solutions and innovative ideas that will come out of this process.”
So whether you’re planning an extension, or just want some advice, book a session and have Tea with an Architect at Barker and Stonehouse.
