A year after it first opened, popular East London pub The Culpeper has now launched The Culpeper Kitchen on the first floor. The gastro pub occupies a handsome Victorian pub on the corner of Petticoat Lane market and takes its name from a once local botanist, Nicholas Culpeper.
The botanical theme is evident throughout The Culpeper’s menu of British dishes, seasoned with herbs grown on the pub’s roof; it continues throughout the interior décor too. A four-floored lightwell and the original Victorian windows have been restored to fill the building with natural light and on the rooftop, a conservatory awaits summer days and sunny evenings.
These features have been complemented by carefully considered furniture and decorative pieces such as luminous pendant lights, stone pot plants and assorted vintage bar stools. Upstairs in the newly opened restaurant space, the vibe is laid-back yet sophisticated, combining classic design elements such as Ercol chairs and parquet flooring with eye-catching turquoise booths.
Inspired by our latest visit to The Culpeper, we went in search of their style. And we found plenty of ways to channel their look with Barker & Stonehouse.
We love the iconic design of this Ercol Quaker chair from Barker & Stonehouse. Made from ash with a U-shaped ladder back it will make a smart addition to any dining table.
Bring vintage style to your home with these industrial bar stools, available in a vibrant blue that is perfect for spring. We love their characterful oxidized patina.
