This week marks the beginning of National Gardening Week, and hopefully the beginning of some lovely garden weather too. In light of this, we thought we would share a garden transformation with you.

Whether you have a large or small garden, you can still make the most of it without having to be a green fingered guru. Many people these days opt for patios and gravel instead of grass and flowers to give their garden that contemporary look which is easy to maintain.

This transformation was of a small, unkempt garden with grass which just wouldn’t grow. It was transformed to a BBQ friendly sanctuary in the space of just 3 days.

First of all, all the turf was taken up, debris was removed and the surface was levelled out to make room for a patio.

Once the patio was down, a membrane was placed in the corner of the garden ready for gravel to be laid.

On the outskirts of the patio, large white peddles were laid to create a striking modern border.

To finish off, evergreen plants were planted surrounded by bark to give a touch of colour to the modern inspired garden.

Evergreen plants and shrubs are a great idea for low maintenance gardens, they keep their deep green colour all year long and you can create a beautiful backdrop you can enjoy all year round. By choosing different varieties you can vary the shades of green to create a very pleasing display.

After some lights and furniture are added it’s going to be the perfect relaxation spot on a sunny summers evening.
