Christmas has come early for a deserving Hebden Bridge couple, whose home was hit twice by severe flooding this year, thanks to Barker and Stonehouse.

Featured on Sky 1’s episode of ‘All Star Christmas Presents’ on December 23, elderly couple Jim and Audrey Sutcliffe were surprised with a living room makeover featuring a number of new items donated by the furniture retailer, including a three seater sofa and matching chair, coffee table, rug and large wall mirror.

Hosted by Mount Pleasant star Sally Lindsay, the television programme rewards the nation’s most deserving and selfless people with the Christmas presents of a lifetime.

Renowned interior designer, Linda Barker from BBC’s ‘Changing Rooms’, was also involved in the show and styled the layout of the Barker and Stonehouse pieces in the remodelled room.

Barker and Stonehouse managing director, James Barker, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to offer a helping hand to such deserving and worthy recipients.

“We know first-hand the devastation of this year’s storms after they forced the temporary closure of our Gateshead store and £500,000 worth of damage.

“We’re proud to be able to give back to people in the community when we can.”
