Barker & Stonehouse now offer a service to remove the unwanted furniture from your household. As part of delivery of your new goods, our specialised delivery team will take away your unwanted goods to be recycled in the correct manner for a small charge.

Barker and Stonehouse have teamed up with Hartlepool based charity OFCA (Owton Fens Community Association) to offer customers a mattress and bulky furniture recycling service.

Mattresses are currently one of the most difficult household items to recycle and account for millions of tonnes of landfill a year in the UK alone.

Vince Lithgo, Operations Manager at Barker & Stonehouse said, “We have been working extensively with the Carbon Trust to reduce our carbon footprint. As part of our Environmental Action Plan we looked long and hard for a partner to work with us on recycling our mattresses and furniture. We were delighted when we found OFCA, based on our doorstep at Hartlepool.”
