They were designed by the company's founder in the 1950s and reflect the start of the resurgence in confidence in the British furniture industry after the austerity of the post-war years.
When exhibiting at Tent, the UK's showcase of applied design, we wanted to both encapsulate ercol's ethos and heritage, but also reflect the company's constant design evolution. The result was the Originals, but in a new matt black finish, producing a strikingly original set of furniture.

Launched in 1958, Ercol's extensive development work enabled bending of thick wood laminations to create the beautiful curves of this chair. This chair goes particularly well with the Original Windsor Dining Table table in black.
